About the Course - 3 CE Credits :

It is not uncommon for hygienists to use one or two instruments to treat their patients. Often, these instruments are similar to what they used in dental hygiene school and often times, these instruments are not suitable to treat patients with advanced periodontal conditions. As hygienists become more proficient with instrumentation skills and knowledge of the dentition, they should improve their hygiene armamentarium. Hygienists are also using instruments far beyond the time they should be replaced for various reasons. The result is poor care, an uncomfortable appointment, and puts the operator and patient at risk for injury. Hygienists need to explore new options that will help improve patient care and help them ergonomically. Over the past decade, the dental hygiene instrumentation market has exploded with new and innovative designs that change the way care is provided to patients. Unfortunately, many hygienists are unaware of the newer technologies. With so many new instrument styles and designs being introduced, it can be challenging to try instruments on a tight budget. This hands-on course will provide detailed information on the latest cutting-edge instrument designs from various manufacturers including ultrasonic and sharpening devices. This course will also assist dental hygienist with creating hygiene packs that require fewer instruments that fit within budgetary constraints and allow the clinician to treat patients with advanced periodontal conditions.
